I don’t know about you, guys, but sometimes I really feel I grow dull. All these parties, lazy evenings before TV and social nets seem to reduce my imagination and ability to think quickly and creative. Once I had this thought about my degrading mind, I decided to improve myself as I was scared to become a computer veggie and silly fast liver. So that’s what I did and do now.
First of all, when I need to count something, I avoid any calculator help. In the beginning it was hard, as it took time to make all these mathematical operation, even the simplest ones, like counting tip. Then it became way easier, and I start surprising my friends with such skills. Sometimes when I use public transport, I pay attention to the license plates of the nearby vehicles, and without writing them down I add the figures from these plates, then raise this result to the square and divide it by seven. Probably that’s why I look so concentrated while riding.
I also read that practice of usage a left hand develops the right hemisphere, which is responsible for creativity and intuition. The right hemisphere is way better in the perception of music and recognition of complex images that can not be broken down into simple components: in particular, in recognition of human faces and emotional expressions on these faces. So I decided to use my left hand more, forcing myself to make written notes, to enter a phone number or messages or to hold a mouse and to cut the food with the non-dominant hand.
Then I stopped taking shopping lists. I mean I used to leave them at home and later check up whether everything was bought. One of the main thing I started doing is learning Spanish. This is not the most difficult language, but still it’s not easy to remember everything. In addition to the rules I investigate, I open any page of my dictionary every day and learn all the words from this page. I mostly use imagination for learning: each word should be associated with something familiar, according to its sounding. Once I learn it I ask my friend to check up my memory. That truly helps and now I can more or less speak Spanish!
Well, as you see, there are many ways to train our memory and thinking. Just don’t be lazy and you are going to make it!
